Dr. Small is a board certified plastic surgeon specializing in cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery. Dr. Small was inspired to become a doctor after sustaining a significant burn as a child, requiring multiple surgical procedures. Dr. Small's goal is to help other people meet their unique needs to obtain a beautifully natural result. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree with distinction and honors at Pennsylvania State University and then a medical degree with honors at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Small's core philosophy as a surgeon is to treat the whole person in a holistic approach, and this is reflected in his medical training.
He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He achieved the highest score nationally for the surgical in-service exam multiple times while recognized and awarded for clinical skill, research and leadership. Dr. Small completed a burn and reconstructive surgery fellowship at New York Medical College, Westchester Medical Center. He furthered his plastic surgery training as chief resident at Ohio University, South Pointe Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Health System.
Dr. Small is board certified in plastic and reconstructive surgery by the American Board of Osteopathic Surgery. He lectures nationally and has published multiple articles. He is licensed to practice in New Jersey, New York and Ohio. He currently lives along the beautiful New Jersey coastline with his wife and two children. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, training for and participating in endurance events, and salt water fishing.
