Labiaplasty Vulval Surgery
Stretched or large labia can be a source of discomfort and embarrassment for women. Labiaplasty or labia rejuvenation is a discreet surgical procedure that can reduce the size of the labia majora and/or labia minora. The clitoral hood can also be reduced if there is discomfort in that area.
Dr. Small is very sensitive to the difficulty many women experience when seeking this type of intimate surgery. He will put you at ease and help you decide what is best for you.
The Labiaplasty Procedure
For labial reduction or clitoral hood reduction, a local anesthetic is administered, and the tissue is trimmed per your specifications. Dissolvable sutures can usually be used to close the incisions. The procedure is done on an outpatient basis, and you can go home the same day.
Recovering from Labiaplasty
While no downtime is required after labiaplasty, you may wish to give yourself a day or two of rest. This is because some discomfort is to be expected, such as swelling, tenderness, and perhaps even some bruising that could make sitting and wearing tight clothing uncomfortable. These symptoms usually resolve within a few days.
Dr. Small will keep a close watch on your progress and will tell you everything you need to know to heal fast and well. This will include avoiding certain things like alcohol, sexual intercourse, douching, tampons, and exercise for a little while.
