Choices in Surgical Facelifts
Time takes its toll on the face and by the time you reach your 40s or 50s, you may not easily recognize the person staring back at you in the mirror. If you are ready to turn back time, a facelift procedure may be the perfect solution. At Ocean Plastic Surgery, Dr. Small offers a variety of facelift options, allowing you to select the treatment that will meet your needs and desired results best.
Liquid Facelift
For those just beginning to show the signs of aging, a non-surgical liquid facelift might be the best choice. This procedure combines injectable treatments like Botox and dermal fillers to smooth away wrinkles and restore youthful volume to areas like the cheeks and jawline. A liquid facelift usually takes less than 30 minutes to complete and there is no downtime afterward. The primary drawback to this procedure is the fact that results are only temporary, so you will need to repeat your treatments periodically to maintain results.
Mini Lift
If you are starting to see more skin sagging and deeper creases, a mini facelift, also known as an S lift, is another option. This surgical procedure is less invasive than a traditional facelift so the recovery time is considerably shorter. The incision line is placed along the natural curves of the ear along your cheek. The procedure is effective in firming and tightening the cheek skin. Mini lifts take about an hour and can often be done in the office with local anesthesia. More advanced aging and skin laxity often requires a the standard facelift.
Traditional Facelift
The traditional facelift is still the best solution for those showing significant signs of aging, including cheek jowling, deep facial creases and loose skin along the neck. The incision line for this procedure usually goes in front and behind the ear. The longer incision line allows all the excess skin of the cheek and neck to be removed after firming the cheek and neck. This leave the remaining skin over the face and neck to be lifted to a more youthful, smoother and firmer appearance. Unlike facelifts of the past, this procedure produces natural results that can last 10 years or more for some patients.
A facelift can be performed alone or in combination with other procedures like a brow lift, eyelid surgery or neck lift. Dr. Small will work with you to determine the best procedure or combination of procedures to give you the best possible results.
